- 1640-09-12 William and Mary created Baron and Baroness Stafford by the same patent; William made Viscount Stafford two months later.
- 1688-10 Mary created Countess of Stafford by the same patent that made her son Henry an Earl.
- The Howard and Stafford lines join twice. Both William and Mary descend from Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham (William via Lady Elizabeth Stafford, Duchess of Norfolk; Mary via Henry, 1st Baron Stafford), making them fourth cousins once removed. Mary also descends from Thomas Howard, 2nd Duke of Norfolk, through Lady Dorothy Howard, Countess of Derby.
